Resolution 2011

I kinda failed a little when it came to my 2010 resolutions, but in my defense, I  wrote that list before I had a job. Just sayin' folks.

Design by Telegramee Studios

I'm excited about my 2011 resolutions. It's all about trying to make 2011 as awesome as it can get.

  • Complete 10 items off of my must do before turning 30 list
  • Travel, travel, travel! (Hawaii, Utah, Louisiana,NYC, Portland, DC)
  • Run in at least 3 more races. (I ran two :/)
  • Begin training for a 1/2 marathon. (fail!)
  • Drink more water. Lots
  • Pray often and read my scriptures often.
  • Go to the temple at least once a month. (semi fail. I started strong then I got lazy)
  • Become coupon savvy and learn ways to save money (you know, so I can spend the money I saved on travel). (Yeah right!)
  • Read more books. (I joined 3 book clubs!)
  • Make new friends. Have parties, invite people over for dinner, game nights, etc. (Semi win! I did it more than the year before!)
  • Blog more. Make a blog schedule and stick to it.
  • Organize. If I don't use it, get rid of it.
  • Finish my mormon.org profile page.
  • Take lots of pictures.
  • Be the best Seminary teacher that I can be. Find ways to help my students grow in the gospel.
  • Shop in my closet. Create new outfits from the clothes that I already have.
  • Be kinder to myself and to others. Find good in everyone that I encounter. The Cute Boy is a master of this and has been a great example to me. I tend to be super judgmental, I need to work on that.
What's on your list? Seriously, I am so so excited for this year. I can't wait to see what it has to offer!

Journals

I have an obsession for journals and note books. I never write in them though, I just collect them like a mad woman. I know, I have issues.

Since the holidays are around the corner, and if you are inclined to gift someone with a journal, here are my top picks to help you out. Dear Cute Boy, I would love to find one of these under the tree this year!

Reach For Something Larger Than You Will Ever Know, $10 for a 3 pack. Via Scout Books. Scout Books is a Portland based company that uses recycled paper and soy based inks. They have free shipping and if you are of the creative type, you can design your own notebooks/journals. A creative wedding favor maybe?

Small Leather Journal, $14. Via in Blue Shop.  I love the vintage suitcases. You can also ask them to custom stamp your journal with whatever you fancy!

Apollo at Go, $15. Via Attic Journals. Journals that are made out of old books, genius idea! I actually own one of their creations and I love it. I always get compliments. I bought mine at Urban Craft Uprising, but they are available at some local bookstores and on line.

Rustic Dark Brown Leather Journal, $15. Via Udomsuk. I am nuts over this journal. I love the rustic look, the color and the size. So dreamy. Udomsuk also carries other charming journals that I have my eye on like this, this, and this.

So what do you think? Which one would you want to give/receive this holiday?

If there were a sun I would be wearing swimwear.

It's almost July and in Seattle it feels like the beginning of fall rather than summer. I don't really mind gray skies but this is really getting to me. Since summer most likely won't happen in my neck of the woods, I'll just have to dream it up...and in my dreams I would own the following swimsuits. For reals.

Natalie One-Piece via Anthropologie
Boy shorts! So 1940ish.

Bailey Tankini via Lime Ricki
Ruffles and stripes. Swoon.

Sutherland Point via Shabby Apple
Deep red, ruffles, and so lady like.

I love the pattern, color, and ruffles. I have a serious obsession over ruffles.
Accommodating Maillot via Anthropologie
GAH! I love this suit! The color, the shape, and the fact that you can wear it two different ways!

Hollywood Tank-Yellow with Ocean Polka Dot via DownEast Basics
Such a vintage inspired suit. Love the polka dots and the large button detail at the chest.

So if you are lucky enough to live where the sun is actually shinning, which one would you pick out? Lucky ducks.

Bling

I am a sucker for jewelry. Earrings, rings, the more the better.

One of my favorite past times is browsing Etsy and searching out some lovely eye candy.

I'm currently lovin' the idea of accessorizing with blue/green jewelry. Reminds me of a Summer's day in the Mediterranean (one day I will go back again).

Anne works with me and she make some seriously awesome stuff. I may or may have not snatched these up as soon as I saw them. They are even more stunning in person!

Bliss Bracelet by Beads Story
Love the branch. Could easily be worn with jeans or a more dressier outfit.

Precious Gold Tree Leaf Branch Aqua Chalcedony Necklace by Friedasophie.
Ahh I am nuts over this necklace! The shop is having a 20% off sale this week. Maybe I should cave in? Notice that I am a sucker for nature inspired pieces?

Turquoise Earrings by Joy Made Jewlery
I am diggin' the simplicity of these earrings. Love the price even more!

Green Chalcedony Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Ring by LuttrellStudio
I've always wanted a wire wrapped ring. I love the square stone. Such a lovely ring!

Poolside Necklace by ERM Originals
So simple and elegant.

All items that I selected are under $30.  I gotta keep things within budget, even if I'm not gonna give in and buy the goods.

Go Big or Go Home

Four years until the big 3-0. Yawzier!

I can't believe that I am now one year closer to thirty than I am to twenty.

Holy.Freaking.Insanity. Where the heck did all that time go?

I've come up with a plan to make the last 4 years of my twenties the best four years possible. Big things are gonna happen. I also need to be held accountable and by writing it, it will more likely happen. Right?

Here is my list of the top 50 things that I want accomplished before turning 30.

1. Be a tourist in the state of Washington. I am in love with this state and I want to fall more deeply in love with it.
2. Be on time for church for one solid month (it takes a month for me to get into a habit of doing something). We are never on time. It's mainly my fault. (April 2013)
3. Donate my hair to Locks of Love. (2010)
4. Make peace with food, my body, and that I probably will never be a size 4. This has been an ongoing struggle for me since I was 14. I am currently reading this, this, and doing some research on meeting with a counselor. (2012)
5. Run a 5k.(Dec 2010)
6. Run a half marathon. (June 2012)
7. Run a marathon.
8. Take the GRE. (July 2013)
9. Apply to grad school.
10. Pay off most of our debt. Our only debt is our mortgage and we are fast tracking it, which  means we have to be super disciplined with our money. The way we are going we will have a huge chunk of it payed off in 3 years. Such a relief since the market sucks right now. (April 2012)
11.Try sugaring (Feb 2013)
12. Get a dog. One of my birthday gifts from The Cute Boy was his blessings for me to research and find a dog that I like.
13. Make a quilt.  (November 2013)
14. Visit a foreign country with the husband. I still daydream about my time in Paris and London and try my hardest to remember the feelings I had when I was there. Right at this moment since we are trying to be responsible with our debt the closest to a foreign country we will get is Canada. Soon it will all change! (Sept 2012)
15. Save up to start a family. I hear that babies are expensive.
16. Do something that I am scared of.  (I have always been scared of death and letting go of Flora was hard) (Aug 2010).
17. Read at least 100 books. (Sept 2013)
18.Take swimming lessons. My swimming skills are pretty basic and I want to feel comfortable swimming in a lake or the ocean.
19. Learn French.
20. Get a bike and ride it every chance that I get. (June 2010)
21. Master the multiplication tables. I want to be able to know them by heart with out stopping and thinking. (July 2013)
22. Reread The Book of Mormon, the Old Testament, the New Testament and the Doctrine and Covenants.
23. Take a dance class with the Cute Boy.
24. Learn how to sing.
25. Don't kill a plant.   (2013 was a good year in the plant keeping department)
26. Learn how to can and preserve food instead of buying canned goods at the store. (June 2010)
27. Write in my journal. My last entry was the day I graduated from BYU. That was 4 years ago.
28. Sew an article of clothing and wear it.  (Dec 2013)
29. Learn HTML and CSS
30. Make bread from scratch. Lucky me, The Cute Boy can teach me!
31. Learn how to use our super awesome camera.
32. Throw an epic party. (May 2011)
33. Make Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon  in my totally rad Dutch Oven. (2010)
34. Stick to an exercise routine for longer than one month. (July 2011)
35. Walk across a suspension bridge.   (May 2013)
36. Reread my two top favorite books, Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird.
37. Go without refined sugar for a solid month.
38. Buy a pair of cowboy boots.
39. Ski/snowboard
40. Go to a jazz club. (Feb 2011)
41. Go to a major league baseball game. (Sept 2010)
42. Visit a city that I have always wanted to visit. My list is super long.  I went to Portland. It was super rad. (August 2010)
43. Eat escargot in Paris  (Oct 2013)
44. Register to become a bone marrow donor (April 2011)
45. Start a family, whether they be my own natural children or through adoption (I know that adoption might take longer than 4 years, but maybe start the process).
46. Find my niche.
47. Have our portraits done. (October 2010)
48. Sell our house and buy a bigger house! (This one is a no guarantee, but a girl can dream right?) (Dec 2013. This one only counts as a half!)
49. Be more vocal about my beliefs. I shouldn't be nervous to talk about religion, politics or things that are important to me. I have mastered this to the tee. I've even received thank you notes for standing my ground and being so brave. I still have no clue how I pulled it off. (2011)
50. Be more patient. Good things always happen to those who are patient.  (Dec 2013. I am comfortable enough to say that I have been challenged enough these last four years to develop this virtue.)
****BONUS!****
(Because 50 wasn't enough!)
51. Go sailing  (Aug 2013)
52. Go to the ballet or an opera  (Sept 2011, Does Opera in Times Square count?)

She is the mom of two cute little tots and is married to a dude who does all the cooking. The thing I love the most about Gabby  is that she stands up for what she believes. She is not afraid to defend it and will question something that does not seem right to her. It takes alot of guts for someone to be honest with themselves and not do something because everyone else is doing it.

I met Tracie through her boyfriend Tom. Out of all my friends, she has the most energy. Last summer she would call me every day and have me walk all over Seattle with her. While I was dying she kept going! Tracie has some serious style and is nuts over yarn. In her spare time she knits all kinds of crazy items and helps alzheimer's patients learn how to knit. What I love the most about Tracie is that she constantly keeping tabs on me and making sure I am keeping up with the goals that I set for myself. She is like an older sister or something. After being around her I suddenly have a huge burst of motivation. She really is inspiring!

Livi is super stylish and is a lover of culture, headbands and of course Gwen Stefani. The girl is nuts over her! She loves to have fun and lives such an adventurous life.
