Let me convince you

You need to read these books.

The Hunger Games was an incredible, page turner of a read. At first I was little confused about what was going on, but that kept me going to learn more. I found myself delaying chores, ditching get together, and eating all three meals of the day while reading this book. I even attempted to watch a movie and read the book at the same time. Multitasking at it's finest.

The Hunger Games is about a country, Panem that rose from the destruction of North America. Panem is separated into 12 districts and is controlled by the Capitol. In order for the Capitol to remind the other districts that they are in control, they host The Hunger Games every year in which each district randomly selects and sends a boy and a girl to fight for their lives in an arena while the whole country watches. The winner is the last survivor.

I know it sounds insanely gruesome and barbarous; which it really is. I think what made me love it so much was the main characters. I instantly had a connection with them and I wanted them to survive. After finishing it I raved about it so much that the Mister caved in and read it too. He loved it just as much as I did and I loved analyzing it with him later on.

Catching Fire is the second book in the triliogy. I had a much harder time getting into this book, but it picked up pretty fast. Catching Fire is basically a set up for the final book. It goes into more details about the districts and the Capitol. I found myself gasping and saying things like "no freaking way" over and over the further along I got.

So here is the problem... Mockingjay, the final book in the trilogy is coming out on August 24 and I have already preordered a copy from Amazon. Both the Cute Boy and I are waiting patiently for it to come out. Let's see who can get their hands on it first!

If you have yet to read the series, now is definitely a perfect time!

The Boy Who Loved Anne Frank

The Boy Who Loved Anne Frank: A Novel

I spent all day captured by this marvelous book. It was heartbreaking, intriguing, and by far one the best books I have read this year. I didn't want it to end and I truly wished it wasn't a work of fiction. I wished that Peter Van Pels had survived and had lived the life he had dream of. Although it is a bit heartbreaking, it has a most beautiful ending. It's a must read!

I'm Bored and I Read Blogs Like This One

Why Mormon Girls Stay Single. Seriously, the title says it all. Thanks Natalie for the intro, I've spent the last hour being entertained. Enjoy peeps!

***Disclaimer*** I have a sick sense of humor, and I don't take things very seriously. So don't take it too serious and have a laugh.

Addicted

Are you bored out of your mind like I am? Did you like Twilight? Are you a hopeless romantic?

If you answered yes to any one of those questions, then you need to read this blog. I'm telling you, it's worth it. She's got drama, love, anger, and forgiveness all wrapped up in one nice package and topped off with a big fat red bow.

The best part about all of this, is for awhile people thought it was real. Rumors were flying all over the blog world about whether it was real or fiction. The author once said that she was sitting around with some of her good friends while they argued about it and she kept her mouth shut. She finally had to come clean and say it was fiction.

By the way, there are no vampires. Sorry...

Thanks Christine for introducing me to this blog!

J is for Jacob Black's Hometown

This post is to make all you Twilight fans super jealous of me. If you don't know what Twilight is, then you are missing out. You should read the books ASAP. I'm being for real. You are totally missing out.

When Brock and I went up to Seattle, we went on a little side trip to the Olympic Peninsula. Mainly because I really wanted to go to Forks. I convinced Brock to go by showing him tons of pictures of that area and committed to hike miles and miles if he took me. Brock is really outdoorsy, me, not so much.

First Beach

So we headed up to this town and I was able to make my life complete by SEEING the places in these book. Forks sucked but Jacob Black's hometown was AWESOME. La Push, WA is now one of my all time favorite places. It's breath taking and magical.

On our way up to La Push we saw a bear cub crossing the street. I wasn't fast enough to take it's picture. Maybe next time. When we arrived, we had dinner at the only restaurant and then walked out to First Beach. First Beach is mentioned in the book and it's your typical North Pacific coast beach. It was covered in these rainbow colored rocks that I thought were pretty awesome. I collected tons of them to give to my fellow Twilight friends.

Then we were off to Second Beach. In order to get to Second Beach, you had to hike through a forest. It was an easy hike, kinda like a stroll through the forest. Then we got to the most amazing beach that I have ever been to. Tons of drift wood line the edge of the beach and you had to climb over them to get to the beach itself.

I was told that if you hike out a bit to the rocks and the ocean, you would find star fish and other sea creatures. I took off for the rocks and was excited when I found out that it was indeed true! It was truly an amazing sight. There were starfish everywhere. Moments like this one helped me to learn how to love nature and become more outdoorsy.

Our next stop was Third Beach. Just like Second Beach, you had to hike through a rain forest to get to it. This hike was a lot longer and steeper.

Third Beach was a lot sandier than the other two. While we were here, I saw a whale peek it's tail up, a dead sea lion, and a bald eagle. Seriously, the bald eagle flew right by me and I look up and was in amazement of what I saw.

All in all, Jacob Black's hometown rocked my world and made me appreciate nature a lot more. Now I'm eager to explore nature in California!
